Bundaberg Distilling Company has been making rum in Bundaberg, Queensland since 1888, distilled from molasses off the surrounding cane fields. The polar bear joined the label in 1961 — the idea being a drop of Bundy keeps the cold out — and the bear has been one of the most recognised marks in Australian drinking ever since.
