The file crosses the ocean, not the print

How far your print travels is settled before you order it, by where the stock is held. A single-press brand puts the finished object in a freight hold and sends it across an ocean, a border and a customs hall. We send a file and print it at the far end.

Below is what that came back as: three surfaces, one mid-size print each, quoted against a real street address in ten countries. A filled cell means the order is made in the buyer's own country. A hollow one names where it is made instead, at the same size, because that is the half these pages usually leave out.

Thirty routes. On seventeen the only thing that crossed a border was the file, and the print travelled the last leg only, which is the leg on which nothing gets crushed. On the other thirteen we have named where it comes from rather than round the claim up.

One work, two presses, one object

Printing your work in the country you live in only helps if the bench in Toronto and the bench in Brisbane put the same object in the box. That is the hard part of local production, and it is why we print through a network with one standard rather than through whoever is cheapest that month. What stands between your file and the parcel is steps, not a promise about care. They either happened or they did not.

Before it reaches a bench Checked automatically for content and reproduction quality against the size ordered, then validated by hand and looked at by a person on the bench. A file that cannot fill the printable area is refused rather than cropped or padded, which is why a work is only sold at sizes its own ratio and resolution will carry.
After it prints A final check before packing, by the team that made it. Packaging is specified centrally rather than left to the bench, because most of what goes wrong with a print goes wrong after it is finished.
Before a bench joins Audited, then reviewed on a schedule and ranked on print quality, delivery speed and stock. A bench that stops meeting the standard is removed, which is the part that makes the rest of it mean anything.
If it still misses It is reprinted, and it is ours to fix rather than the bench's to explain. You deal with us.
What we will not claim We do not run these audits, the network does, and we have never stood in one of these rooms. Nobody in the trade publishes a damage rate in either direction, so we have none to quote and none to hide behind.

How long it takes

Nothing is printed until you order it, so every number here includes making the thing as well as moving it. These are quotes returned against real addresses, not a promise. A courier can lose a week and a customs hall can lose two. We would rather show you the spread than the middle of it.
