Gold Coast — The Long Beach
The strip looking south, surfers still out, the whole sky going at once. Painted for a wall that needs one loud thing on it.
The same coastline, the other direction. Looking south down the strip with the surf still working and the sky doing everything at once — this is the one that's about the beach rather than the buildings.
The horizon sits high on purpose so the sand and the water take two thirds of the frame. The towers are still in it. They're just not the subject.
Why the sky is that busy
Because it is, for about eleven minutes, and then it isn't. The temptation is to calm it down so it stops fighting the water. We left it fighting.
The break line
The white water runs the full width and never straightens out. It is what stops the composition splitting cleanly into sky and sand, which would read as two pictures sharing a frame.
Made for a wall that needs one loud thing on it and nothing else.
