The Story

From the series that made Kuniyoshi's name: 108 Heroes of the Suikoden, a Chinese bandit epic hugely popular in Japan. He was nearly thirty and had spent a decade struggling for work when it was published in the late 1820s; it sold out and started a fashion for heavily tattooed warrior figures that ran for years.

Signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi. Published by Kagaya of Ryōgoku, with the kiwame censor's seal.
