Modern Rome - Campo Vaccino

A pale moon hangs small and high over the Forum, in a sky running from clear blue at the left through gold to warm cloud at the right. Two Corinthian columns stand free at the right carrying a broken entablature, and behind them an arcaded ruin fades into rose and cream haze.

The record dates the painting to 1839 and the J. Paul Getty Museum holds it; what ships is a reproduction. Turner died in 1851, so the work is out of copyright, and the Getty publishes the file under CC0 1.0, its Open Content licence: no royalty is owed and none is paid. The file runs 9,075 pixels on its long edge, about 115 centimetres at 200 DPI, and the ladder stops at 75 x 100 cm with room to spare.
