Bear grabs salmon
The fish is intact and still airborne, so this reads as the catch itself, the right half of the frame given to falling water.
A brown bear stands at the lip of the falls, head in profile to the right, jaws just closed across the back of a salmon that hangs vertically in the air. The bear holds the left third from shoulder to forepaw, the fish sits at dead centre, and the right half is a plunging white cataract.
Water is the hard part of a picture composed like this, and it holds its texture rather than blowing out to bare white. Wet guard hairs separate all down the neck and shoulder, and the salmon's scales, lateral line and fin rays stay readable. The credit reads USFWSAlaska, dated 7 July 2020, and a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service photograph is a US federal government work, so no royalty is owed on this print and none is paid.
